Suburb Spotlight: Yarra Valley
The Shire of Yarra Ranges is located in the outer eastern and north eastern suburbs of Melbourne extending into the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, with a population of over 158,000 residents.* The area has a mixed demographic of young families and professionals who make the commute back to Melbourne several times a week. As a result, the area is experiencing a rise of additional dwellings which has been the major driver of population growth, providing opportunities for new households.
This population growth has resulted in the median house price rising significantly since 2010 – 68%.
The Yarra Valley is a regional food and wine hub accommodating a number of Australia’s most renowned wineries. Famous for its production of chardonnay, sparkling wine and pinot noir. Wineries such as De Bortoli. Dominque Portet, Chandon, Yering Station and many more are steeped in prestige and are held in high esteem both domestically and internationally. In addition to the Yarra Valley’s reputation for wine, the region is also known for its fresh produce, organic fruit and vegetables and handmade cheese and preserves, making it a popular getaway destination.
